Kuulas is 27 year-old DJ and producer from Helsinki whose fluid style of hybrid dance music combines influences from UK bass music, techno, grime, electro, footwork and beyond.

When he first started DJing in 2010 he played strictly four-to-the-floor techno and house, but following the emerging post-dubstep / bass music scene his style evolved to encompass a wider range of influences, when he first started using his Kuulas moniker in 2014.

An active perfomer in the Helsinki underground party circuit, Kuulas has played events organised by promoters such as Drop Zone, Yövuoro, Aamunen, Halloper and Contained. 2015 saw Kuulas playing outside Helsinki for the first time, first for Ajuvabrik in Tartu, Estonia and later for TYEMYY in Turku.

Kuulas has also been involved in organising parties in Helsinki since 2011 and as an active member of HYTKY since 2012, which has exposed him to new and exciting styles of contemporary dance music, and has further refined his vision of what works on and off the dance floor.

Kuulas’ Sugar Cubes Podcast is a testament to his eclectic style, with big, rhythm driven tracks and dramatic, harmonically aware mixes. The mix showcases various mutations of bass music going through a range of tempos, rhythmic permutations and soundscapes with infectious fervour.

Producer and a DJ, Jimi's been collecting records since his early teenage years. He is a co-founder and original member of Better Things to Do, vinyl-driven DJ collective regularly throwing disco and house clubnights around Helsinki. Lately Jimi's known for being a resident DJ at Loukku, an underground afterhours club he co-founded in a secret location.

Jimi's charasteristic soundscape consists of dubby basslines, hazy synths and hypnotic beats. This mixtape for Sugar Cubes Podcast dives a bit deeper into dub techno and ambient, yet with a distinguishable minimal house touch.

If you've been to Muumilaakso and Loukku during last years, you may have seen Evol Dis behind the turntables, delivering his dubby morning sounds to those who forgot to go home. We are exited to hear more from this new talent.

TM Shuffle brings us tight and dedicated house and techno from the suburbs of Tampere. He's collected records and played DJ gigs since 1991, produced since 1998, and remained one of the best kept secrets in the business - until now. 2016 has been active studio time after a break; producing dubby technohouse as TM Shuffle and also deep classic technohouse as a member of shuffless (the other being a fellow longtimer Needless). The results will be heard in 2017 on various outings, first one (Shuffless: Gotta Go EP featuring Phonogenic and TM Shuffle remixes) coming out on Vuo Records in late 2016.

Here you get to go on a musical journey that starts from deep, 4am dub moods and endless grooves, morphing into jacking techno sounds. Get into it, listen loud and dancing.

This Christmas the stockings have been stuffed with dub techno by Jokki, a member of the Better Things to Do collective. Expect something a bit different from the techno he plays for the dance floor at his residency in Loukku. This deeper mix paints the soundscape for these dark and cold winter days.

Sugar Cubes Podcast starts the year 2017 by presenting a veteran of the scene, both behind the decks and on the dancefloor. His musical taste is as broad as his earrings. Better known for the tech house sets by his alias Node, Matudelic slows the space-time down to 110 bpm and teleports us to a random location in South America or Arabia.

We are happy to present a new member of the HYTKY family. Florall has played house and garage since 2014, recently moving into the direction of UK bass music. The best chance to hear more of this is Kierrätyskeskus on April 29th. Also check out his ambient / techno project Tulva.

DJ Conehead dug into his crate of rave vinyls from years 1990–1993, and brought to you a mix tape of only B sides of some slower and occasionally darker records, which he usually leaves home when packing the record box for a gig.
