Finity continue on their slow but sure release of pure quality trance music. The latest on the digital side of things is a track called 'The Island' by Finnish production duo Jussi Paasonen and Sami Törrönen...
Winkee - The Island

1) The Island
Music from Finity is always a joy to receive because it always turns into an opportunity to sample really good quality music from usually quite fresh faced producers who're looking to gain footholds in the industry.
After 50 seconds of a pretty plain beat driven introduction, 'The Island' surges into life with a rush of energy quite akin to that found in a lot of Psy-Trance. It carries quite a few similarities - the bassline is deep, rolling and unrelenting, there is an acidic synth presence chattering in the background and there are also a lot of wooshing synth effects and 4 beats silences before another section of the production begins. The differences are, mainly, the pace, which is a lot slower and the beats are soft and rounded instead of the pounding punch of more classic Psy-Trance beats.
Anyway, 'The Island' begins to distinguish itself when it hits the breakdown. A plucked, old sounding stringed instrument plays out a simple melody over silence until the background is layered up with smooth and pristine pads. The whole thing is an inspiring trancey build up - the melody increases and gets synth support, the deep bass kicks in, synthy sfx spice the sound up and the energy just continues to build in a slow surge of melodic bliss. All of this goodness takes the focus away from the fact that the breakdown is quite long, but it's so good it passes you without you even realising. From here, the melodic element is capitalised on and you're graced with a quality combination of leads from the string instrument and backing synths. More grade A material from Finity. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of Winkee too.
Conclusion:
An intriguing blend of styles here. Lots of music coming from Finity is quite progressive, but here, we see elements of trance, progressive and psy-trance combine to form a wicked track which is worthy of a lot of attention.

IVIBES REVIEW - Pasi Korhonen :: Black & White EP
More has arrived from the creme de la creme of Finnish trance. Check out this murky progressive monster from Pasi Korhonen...
:: Pasi Korhonen - Black / White
:: Finity Digital
:: FTYDG004
1) Black
'Black' kicks off at a notably slower pace, but consists of really big, hoofing beats and razor sharp, rasping percussion. The slow proggy build begins by bringing in decent waves of bass, some pleasing sfx and eventually a floaty synth riff which does a good job of lifting the track and levels it out nicely. The key feature of this track, I think, is held within the breakdown. The ambience and pulsing sfx sort of reduces to a gut churning bass of immense depth which rumbles and boils menacingly in the background. Shrill vocals and tense synths come in to make this really dark and atmospheric for a short moment, until progression is resumed and the beats kick back in. There is a renewed sense of drive though which helps pick up the mood and the final touch is brought in by waves of surging, moody synth. A prog monster that makes you think.
2) White
'White' feels a little faster and also a bit more 'open', if you like. A dainty synth plays out some echoed notes into what seems like a vast space and you'd be forgiven for thinking that was it for the rest of the track. It's not, however. After the breakdown, the track changes. A lot. A higher energy synth riff comes into play as do a periodic set of stabbed rhythmic synth chords. The result is quite a dreamy sea of sound. Still heavily progressive, but somthing you can let yourself sink into.
Conclusion:
Two very interesting pieces of heavy progressive trance here. Take a look and give it a chance before you pass judgement, you may be surprised.

a98 - Solar Wind / Binary Star EP - Trance.nu review
Finity Recordings is an electronic dance label founded in May 2005, featuring cutting edge trance and progressive. Finity focuses on looking for fresh trance & dance music, and the label mainly aims to help the up and coming Finnish trance talents to pave their way into the international dance music market. One of Finity's most recent releases is a98's "Solar Wind / Binary Star EP".
a98 (Anssi Hohti, or better known as Allende) is a trance and progressive producer from Finland. He's probably most well-known for his remix of Snow Patrol "Open Your Eyes", which has seen an unofficial white label release. Other than that, he has had various releases and remixes on labels such as Deepblue, Subtraxx and Alter Ego.
Solar Wind
The first track off the Solar Wind / Binary Star EP is Solar Wind. Starting off with a solid perc line, the track slowly builds with the addition of FX, a driving bassline, and massive synth pads. The breakdown finally makes an appearance at the 4 minute mark. It hastily introduces a rather smooth and catchy lead pattern, definitely the stand-out feature in this track. A superb chord progression outlined by the bassline and those huge pads compliment the captivating lead. A very accessible and uplifting tune, enjoyable to say the least. Uplifting and melodic fans should be very satisfied with this one.
Binary Star
Binary Star is a bit edgier than its predecessor. Starting off with a crisp perc line, it wastes no time in pulling itself together. The bassline is very driving and is soon followed by a storming acid riff. Melodic hooks and sweeping pads come into play before the breakdown commenses. The lead is rather nice once again, featuring a synthy pluck sequence. The breakdown ends quickly, making room for the rather melodic chorus, consisting of pads, FX, and the lead. Overall a well written production.
Conclusion
Both tracks are more or less solid uplifting tracks and are in my opinion equally as strong. Perhaps not too innovative, but they're certainly enjoyable and will definitely appeal to those inclined towards uplifting, synthy trance. 3.5/5

Jussi Polet - Memory Reflect EP - Trance.nu review
Finity Recordings is an electronic dance label founded in May 2005, featuring cutting edge trance and progressive. Finity focuses on looking for fresh trance & dance music, and the label mainly aims to help the up and coming Finnish trance talents to pave their way into the international dance music market.
Jussi Polet completes the fifth installment under Finity Digital with his "Memory Reflect EP". Jussi has seen a number of releases over the last few years, the most notable being his remix of Recluse "Emotional Void" and his release on Danceteria entitled "Positive". Let's take a further look on his latest offering.
Live Love Die
Starting out with a dark airy vibe, Live Love Die slowly builds with fading melodies and a dark driving bass. Plucks, pads and FX sweeps throughout the introduction sound pretty solid. The airy lead sequence is definitely the highlight as the track makes slowly its way into the breakdown. A guitar riff emerges in the breakdown, which sounds rather impressive. Holding your attention, the guitar stands firm whilst the track slowly builds up strength. The track emerges into the chorus, featuring plucks and sweeps much like it had in the introduction. The guitar re-emerges and is followed by the airy lead sequence from the beginning. In essence an emotional track with a dark edge, definitely a great start to the EP.
Two Seas Apart
Two Seas Apart starts out with a funky percussion riff, giving it a bit of an energetic drive. Very quickly but seamlessly a pluck sequence fade in along with a lush pad. Arps and a bassline also emerge as the plucks fade in and out. The chord progression also emerges seamlessly, followed by a squelchy lead. The breakdown features massive pads and a deep guitar riff. Absolutely beautiful. The chorus emerges with building percussion and FX, which seems to be a trend of Jussi's. The chorus boasts that squelchy but superb lead sequence and the guitar, backed by the huge pads. The most impressive features of this track are its seamless transitions and overall pure and uplifting atmosphere.
The Starchaser
This time around the track takes much longer to build up steam, only starting with a minimal percussion riff and delayed FX and blips. Once the bassline emerges the percussion slowly starts to build and so do the melodic aspects. Sine blips and pads make their way in, along with a filtering sequence. The breakdown features a few unique pads and the delayed blips from earlier on. After the lead sequence fades in and out, the chorus kicks in almost unexpectedly. It features just about all of the aspects from earlier on along with the lead from the breakdown and perhaps richer pads. Once again Jussi puts together a very emotional and driving piece of trance.
Midsummer Night
Midsummer Night is easily the most progressive and chilled of the four, featuring a chunky perc line and a bouncey bassline. A mysterious blip lead, plucks, guitar licks and an odd vox sequence lead the way into the breakdown. The guitar licks come into play during the break, backed by filtering bass. The percussion starts to build up as the mysterious lead from the intro makes its way in. The chord progression featured in the chorus is rather nice, complimenting the blips and the vocal sequence. A very uplifting yet reserved track, showing that Jussi can get the job done on alternate fronts and not just standard uplifting trance.
Conclusion
All four tracks are equally well written and produced, thus it's too hard to decide which is the strongest. Jussi's strongest traits seem to be those uplifting pads and smoother than smooth transitions. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more from Jussi in the future. 4/5

After the immense 'Face Of God', Syna returns with a follow up on the Finnish Finity Recordings imprint. If you thought the first track was good, wait until you hear this...
:: Syna - Do You Feel
:: Finity Recordings
:: FTYCDS001
1) Do You Feel (Original Version)
Featuring Syna's crisp, clear sounds and flawless production, 'Do You Feel' impresses right from the start. The bassline is energetic, lively and driving and is backed by a persistent, acidic riff which fuels the track brilliantly. The synths used here are breathtaking. Layers of thick, smooth and sumptuously perfected sound really make this shine. The break sees a great combo of a breakbeat, slight but incredibly atmospheric vocal touches and then a wonderful piano melody. The melody flows perfectly, wonderfully and beautifully, cushioned by those sweetly singing synths. Then out of nowhere, an electric guitar just takes right over and continues the melodic flow. It's a totally different sound, but it's executed with perfection, making it absolutely spot on, injecting even more harmonious energy into this already blistering track. There are many subsections included as the track progresses, but most importantly they all add up to something truly exciting, uplifting and downright incredible. This is an essential tune of 2007.
2) Do You Feel (Matti Kotala Remix)
Matti Kotala goes for a slightly softer and rounded sound here. There is still plenty of energy in the bassline and the acidic backing is still present, although in a different guise. Again the true beauty emerges during the breakdown as a synth laden section allows the piano to emerge gracefully, with the help of another soaring synth and some subtly plucked strings. These strings take the melodic lead eventually, adding to the overall feel of the smooth, gentle and soft sound.
3) Do You Feel (Allende Remix)
The Allende Remix is totally different. Deep, proggy and downtempo, most of the track lies in a sea of deep, churning basses and twisted, melodic sfx style synths. The breakdown is where the sweet synths are allowed out and the piano takes control for a short while, and is as beautiful as ever, but the the main track kicks back in with the deep, grinding basses. The core melody is still in there, but it takes a bit of getting used to.
4) Do You Feel (Lume Remix)
Slightly slower paced than the Original Mix, Lume's Remix is a much lighter incarnation of 'Do You Feel'. The bass is much more 'easy going' and there are lots of sampled vocals used in synthy effects to fill the track and generally raise the mood without overpowering anything. The lovely catchy melody is still there, but is played by a more acoustic sounding synth. A calm and mellow take on this gem of a track.
5) Do You Feel (Syna's Lost In Love Mix)
Finally, Syna puts in a fully breakbeat orientated remix. 'Do You Feel' does amazingly well in this configuration too! In between the chunky broken beats, there's plenty of space to be filled with gorgeous, deep basses, smooth pads and super-sweet string chords. There are some wonderful harmonies created between the various stringed parts and at times, the track seems almost fully orchestral. It's a beautiful, epic piece of music in its own right, which covers all the right emotional, soulful and melodic bases with great ease.
Conclusion:
For me, one of THE tunes of 2007. Lots of great mixes to choose from but the Original Mix stands tall above them all. Don't miss out on this, it's amazing.

Syna - Do You Feel?
Top Finnish label Finity returns with a very powerful uplifting production from trance trio Syna. "Do You Feel?" features several remixes from some of Finland's finest, including Lume, Allende and Matti Kotala.
Original Mix
Driving percussion starts things off before a driving bassline and a wicked bassline drop in. The track picks up speed rather quickly. A sublime pluck and a few pads filter in right before the break. A rather nice breakbeat section helps ease the track into the breakdown. A fantastic piano riff takes center stage as the chord progression appears. A snare roll re-introduces the filtering bassline, filtering pads and percs while the piano stands on hold. The chorus kicks in a moment later and the piano returns for a moment before an absolutely amazing guitar solo kicks in. Without much warning the track collapses, leaving nothing but a blip sequence in its wake. Things pick up quickly once again as the chorus makes a stunning return a moment later. This time around, the guitar holds the spotlight first, followed by the piano. A few vocal riffs appear once the track hits a breakbeat section. A moment later the track starts to fade out and come to a close. Wow, what a trip! This tune is pure beauty, simply one of the best pieces of trance I've heard in recent years. Have a listen if you don't believe me wink
Matti Kotala Remix
Matti Kotala of ALt+F4 fame brings his own driving, synthy interpretation to this monster of a tune. Starting off with a simple percussion and a few synthy FX, things pick up as the bassline slowly filters in and the percs quickly build up. A brief pause introduces a catchy acid riff. A synthy arp riff filters in moments before the track dives into the breakdown. Beautiful pads help pave the way as everything filters down. The pads hold the spotlight for a moment before the piano riff from the original appears. A soft majestic synth riff drops in, only to be replaced by a rather Alt+F4-sounding lead. The track builds up with a big snare and kick roll, introducing the chorus without delay. A few Alt+F4 plucks take over the moment the lead saw disappears. Without warning the track drops into another breakdown, featuring those Alt+F4 plucks once again. In a rather rushed manner, the tune builds back up and another chorus commenses. For those who miss Alt+F4, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this remix. A simply beautiful interpretation with a bit of a nostalgic touch. If the original wasn't synthy enough for you, then this one is perfect.
Allende Remix
The overly diverse Allende provides a rather lush and atmospheric remix to compliment the upbeat and storming mixes thusfar. Chunky percussion with huge FX on top start things off. A catchy occasional vocal riff and a thick bassline soon make their way in, as do various layers of percussion. An odd, low-end acid sounding synth filters in and after a pause, the chord progression makes its appearance. The acid synth really ruins the atmosphere at this point, almost sounding like nothing but noise. The breakdown finally appears, featuring lush pads and the piano riff that's been apparent in the first two mixes. The vocal riffs reappear as the pads expand. A second piano layer adds as a very nice touch to keep things fresh. The coarse bass synths that appear thereafter aren't very pleasant at all. They're a bit too rough and grainy. Soon enough they're accompanied by a few piano bits, the vocals and the pads that dominated the breakdown. The chorus seems to carry out for a bit too long, mainly due to the bass synths. After the chorus ends the track takes a few minutes to gradually close. Overall not very impressive, but admittedly quite original.
Lume Remix
Simple, banging percussion starts off the show, soon followed by a delicious vocal riff. A unique bass riff appears moments later, backed by a few pleasant background synths. Pads soon filter in as the chord progression emerges. Quickly enough, the track filters down and the breakdown surfaces. A catchy pluck filters up along with the atmospheric pads, only to be knocked back down as the track builds up with a snare roll. The chorus features the delicious pads, pluck and the sublime vocals, overall very minimal in nature but extremely uplifting. The track works its way into a second breakdown, which features the fantastic guitar riff from the original that I cannot get enough of. A buildup brings in a second chorus which features the guitar solo, followed by the pluck, pads and vocals. Gorgeous. Perhaps not as satisfying as Lume's "Do While", this one doesn't disappoint. Great to see Lume's still around.
Syna's Lost In Love Mix
Syna return to their usual breakbeat stylings with their Lost in Love mix. Basically featuring the prominent elements of the original (pads, chord progression, vox) this interpretation features breakbeat percussion (duh) as well as a rich bass and a rather unique stuttering lead. Various FX and acidic hooks hold things down at the start before the pads and chord progression appear. A grand FX sweep brings in the breakdown, which introduces that stuttering lead all the while the pads provide a lush backdrop. The percussion kicks in rather quickly. The second breakdown features a few spoken vocals that I can't quite make out. A deep guitar riff and short string hits as well as a broader string pad are introduced, which sound rather nice. The guitar riff from the original soon surfaces during the second chorus as well. This mix sounds more like something you'd hear in a film score but with a trancey edge. Very impressive work overall.
Conclusion
Just about every mix was top notch, but in the end the Original outshines all else. Simply breathtaking. The Matti Kotala mix comes in at a close second. Despite the lackluster Allende remix, this release scores a 5/5

Finity is pleased to present - 'Xspective Sense - Whisper of An Angel'.
16-year-old rising Finnish talent Samuel Kovanko is showing skills with his debut release at Finity.
Coming from a very musical family, Samuel Kovanko found the wonderful world of software sequencers at tender age of 12. Not too long after that, Japanease label Aoiro got interested of his track "Unfair" later leading to several clubs rotations all over Japan.
Polishing his producing skills, Samuel, still only 16 years old, caught the attention of Finity with massive chop-vocal progtrancer reminicent of the styles of Maor Levi and Andy Moor.
"Whisper of An Angel", to be released early September, is already getting support around the globe from DJs such as Markus Schulz, Andy Moor, Matt Darey, Mike Shiver, Ronski Speed, Suzy Solar, Mat Zo, Smith & Pledger, Les Hemstock, Sied Van Riel, Andrew Parsons and Jose Amnesia.
1) Original Mix
"Whisper of An Angel" is a stunning progressive trance gem. Guitars, chopped up vocals and a melodic atmosphere feel reminds us of the style of Maor Levi.
2) Beetseekers Remix
Beetseekers aka Simo Paganus, known from his various aliases at Joof and Deepblue delivers a superb remix. Keeping the elements of the original, while adding some uplifting groove and vibes, his remix takes us back to the times when Trance was written with capital T.

Finland's leading electronic dance music label Finity returns with a very interesting EP...
'WHITE STARS - ALWAY ALONE / MY MIND EP'
White Stars was born when Marko Kantola and Sauli Viinamäki, two youngsters from Northern parts of Finland noticed they both want to produce something completely new.
The result was a two-tracker with very unique, previously unheard synth lines, groovy beats and memorably melodies.
They call their style progressive trance with melodic influences, we call them simply amazing. Their enthuiasm to producing found in the tracks convinced us, and they are now proud artists of Finity stable.
1) Always alone
Always Alone has an almost filthy synth riff, a memorable synth lead, a rolling bassline and strange master effects. Beautiful piano breakdown creates great contrast to the full-on parts.
2) My Mind
My Mind is powered with haunting female vocal hook, intense synth lines, and an unique soundscape.
