Well, it's been a while coming, but my new label, Used & Abused, is finally ready to launch after the debacle of last Autumn's disasterous closure of distributors Intergroove, and then in turn Adrift Recordings at the turn of the year. Since then I've been busy setting up the new imprint and have some very exciting music lined up for you over the coming months.
The first single is coming out in two parts. First is the simply massive 10-minute Hybrid remix, backed by my own chunky tech-funk throwdown, and will be available from this Monday (21st May) on both vinyl & as a download. Part two will follow in several weeks time on June 18th and features the much lauded remixes by Perc and my own new alias, Double Black, once again both on vinyl and as a digital download.

'The super Shack man returns with the big EF logo on his chest, bringing along Hybrid for the ride on this triple-header of delights in the shape or `You'. This was lifted from his recent album `Modern Primitive' and what a great way to kick off his new label. The EF mix is built around crazy stutter edits, call and response synths underpinned with the boom bap rhythm track that is his hallmark. Hybrid take it deeper with layers of pads, bed sounds (sound FX and interwoven layers on pads and strings) and powerful BFD live drums. Also check the excellent `Perc Dub' for some killer DJ tool action. Abuse this!' 5/5

'Fresh off Elite Force's awesome 'Modern:Primitive' album, 'You' is a beautifully deep disc. Lavished in harrowing strings and Shack's own, almost mournful, vocals this is perfect star gazing fodder for the forthcoming festie season. No one does spine-tingling star gazing quite as well as Hybrid, so it's fitting that they provide a stellar remix. Result.'

'I¹ve been hearing good stuff about our Shack recently. He seems to be back on form (actually that might be the false statement of the month as did he ever come off it?) Here he delivers the first track to be taken from his new imprint 'Used And Abused' (do I detect a slight bit of angst here?) anyway, we¹re treated with a very large remix package. Firstly from them Welsh boyos Hybrid who deliver a very heavy psychedelic re-rub. The Original is pretty heavy, very breakbeat though (who does he think he is!) but for this lad the real action happens on Perc¹s remix. Now this prog house dude has been making a big name for himself over the years and here he wins the award for most deranged mix of the month as he delivers a top-wonky donkey remix featuring chopped up vox over tripped out FX too make this one of my favourite tunes this month. Oh get you, you lovely little man.
